Laminitic stance

The hoof wall exerts leverage on the front of the hoof, the toe. In case of laminitis this is painful because the lamellae are inflamed and very sensitive. The horse tries to avoid weighting the front of his hooves by leaning backwards. This leaning backwards is also called laminitic stance.
