Basement membrane

  • ·5 June 2017

The basement membrane is located between the secondary dermal lamellae and the secondary epidermal lamellae. This membrane is a connective tissue that attaches the dermal and epidermal lamellae to each other, in the same way as dermis and epidermis are held together in human skin. It is regarded as the most important connection in the structure of the hoof.
